Baron von Bulldog
Kjell Nordstrøm was born in Sweden in 1962, and is surprisingly still alive. He moved to Paris in the 1980’s, where built his own fashion brand and while working as an assistant in houses such as Jean Paul Gaultier, Comme des Garcons and Pierre Balmain.
He brought his tireless work ethic and sense of style to Oslo in the nineties and founded his brand and alter ego Baron von Bulldog. Establishing himself as avant-garde, bold, provocative and pushing boundaries, he blurs the lines between fashion, performance and social commentary. This has often made a lot of people angry, including the government, the fashion establishment and people online.
Baron von Bulldog started in 1996 as a non-commercial fashion brand, using the catwalk to make statements rather then just showing fashion.
Nordstrøm’s approach to design is rooted in storytelling and provocation. He believes in the power of fashion to challenge norms and inspire dialogue, always prioritising the message behind the garments over fleeting trends.
Some of the fashion shows became iconic, with collections such as “Propaganda”, “The Eva Braun Kollektion”, “Being Boring”, “Circus Maximus”, “East End Boys & West End Girls” and “Black Rose”.

The death and resurrection of the Baron
Kjell Nordstrøm officially "killed" the Baron in 2009, but has continued as a succesfull costume designer for television, film and theater. His recent work includes designing the iconic costumes for "Maskorama" (Masked Singer Norway).
Nordstrøm has always been a vocal advocate for ethical fashion and was one of the first designers to publicly oppose the use of fur in the fashion industry, participating in campaigns that influenced Oslo Fashion Week to become the world´s first fur-free fashion week.
Baron von Bulldog has a sneak comeback for Oslo Fashion Week in 2026, and is being fully resurrected in 2027 with a whole new collection, co-exhibiting with Black Rat.
